Homelessness, like hunger, is a societal issue we could solve if enough people put enough effort into the push. According to 2018 data from the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH), Florida had more than 30,000 residents who were at-risk for homelessness or currently homeless. These people hailed from all backgrounds: families, veterans, young adults and those dealing with “chronic” homelessness. The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in May 2019 gathered volunteers and pastors to address needs of the homeless in downtown Miami. Those needs, including hunger and personal items other supplies, were partially satisfied but the mission continues. It’s a mission close to the heart of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, as the entire congregation has deep faith in God the Father and knows that it’s their duty to help these brothers and sisters.
ICH data shows that the approximately 31,000 individuals in Florida experiencing homelessness is a major issue when compared to the U.S. as a whole. Predictably, California leads the nation with nearly 130,000 individuals dealing with this issue. According to the 2018 estimates, the 21,000 in Texas and 91,000 in New York are also close to the top of the list. The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God is dismayed by these figures, but work has to start somewhere — so it’s starting in Florida.
UniSocial is an arm of this church and combines all outreach groups. Among the ongoing charitable and community outreach efforts that the organization conducts includes fundraisers, volunteer events, direct donations, disaster relief and more. During the May 2019 outreach event in downtown Miami, UniSocial did deliver food and other items that those dealing with homelessness would need to get on better footing. Since the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God is after all champions of the Bible and Lord Jesus Christ, those who gathered during the outreach event received a word of faith and encouragement.
Moreover, those who were reached were also invited to take part in special services provided by the church and this is part of the local-level efforts that unfold daily across the globe. The Universal Church off the Kingdom of God is a ministry with locations in more than 100 countries. The weekly chain of prayer meeting, universal online radio and themed meetings on everything from health and love to spiritual cleansing is open to members. For those in Florida who’ve been touched by the hand of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, we hope you’ll take the time to learn more about the organization.
